The Home Team

Sarasota isn't the town you think it is.

Two high-school buddies who love this town, a coffee roaster who moved here and never looked back, and a standing invitation to everyone in Sarasota who's building something worth talking about.

Meet the Home Team

Brad Hannon

Brad Hannon

Founder · Host

Founder and CEO of Signature Senior Solutions, an Inc. 5000 Medicare agency headquartered in downtown Sarasota. Brad had spent years building national businesses and putting out content for them; SpeaX was the chance to point that energy at his own zip code. He runs the room, asks the follow-up nobody else will, and has interviewed a mayor, a tightrope walker and a chocolate company from the same chair.

Trey Martell

Trey Martell

Co-host

Owner of Strong Roofing SRQ and Homes By Strong, a company he started from scratch and grew on the advice of other local owners, which is exactly where the idea for this show came from. SpeaX was Trey's idea first: a roofing podcast, until he realized the only people who'd watch were roofers. Sarasota's entrepreneurs were far more interesting. The one at the table most likely to say what everyone's thinking.

Vic Cipolla

Vic Cipolla

Co-host

Owner of DD Roasters, the downtown coffee roastery he runs with his wife, artist Kira Lee of the Kira Lee Gallery. Vic and Kira left New York City for Sarasota in 2020, came on the show as guests for episode 89, and Vic joined the Home Team in 2026. Brooklyn directness, Sarasota address, and living proof that an episode can put people through your front door.

The story

How SpeaX happened

Brad and Trey go back to high school. Years later they were both running businesses in Sarasota, one in insurance, one in roofing, and both had the same itch: this town is far more interesting than its reputation, and nobody was telling that story.

They also understood one thing clearly. Nobody wants to hear about insurance or roofs. What people want is the stuff that actually goes on here: the chef who turned a Covid pop-up into a Michelin nod, the guy storing exotic cars in a climate-controlled clubhouse, the coach, the mayor, the tightrope walker, the pest-control company that went from one truck to fourteen locations. So the roofing podcast became a Sarasota podcast, and two old friends who love this place started inviting the people who make it run to sit down and talk.

Episode 1 went up in August 2023. Since then: 160+ episodes, two SRQ Magazine Platinum awards for Best Local Podcast, a purpose-built studio, and a 2026 relaunch that added Vic to the Home Team and a rotating bench of Sarasota co-hosts. The premise hasn't changed: the perception of Sarasota doesn't match the reality, and the fix is to let the people living it do the talking.
